Allie’s Story While hurrying between classes at her middle school, Allie had what doctors call syncope---she fainted in the hallway. Because of the nature of her fainting spell, our pediatrician suggested further testing with an EKG. This was Allie’s second episode with fainting, the first one occurring a year earlier during the Endurance Run in elementary school. No one thought to look further into it then---lots of kids faint when they are at school, or fall down from feeling lightheaded. When the doctors performed the EKG at the local hospital, they saw something on the read-out, which was confirmed a few days later with a second EKG & Echocardiogram. She was checked into Children’s Memorial Hospital on Monday, February 2nd to have further testing. She’s been there ever since.
